Dark pool share: 42% off-exchange — 10pp below the market
Off-exchange prints never touch the public book, so they move size without moving the quote. That is the point of using them. Most of the day cleared on the lit market — either there was nothing to hide, or the large players sat out. Short share of the off-exchange piece: 26% vs a 24% norm.

What it means: Off-exchange trading in BCS is roughly in line with its usual pattern, with short-selling share close to its norm, so there is no strong quiet accumulation or distribution signal. Options show more calls than puts on standing positions, a mild bullish lean, but no large new option positions were opened in the last session.
News vs the money
Joby shares fall 9% after Barclays downgrades to Underweight; Archer rises 5% on an Overweight call
The headline is a sharp drop for a rival eVTOL name, while BCS's own options show a mild call-heavy lean with no large new positions, so the money does not clearly tie to this news.

Barclays heading into Q3: a stronger bank at a discount
The bullish tone of the report lines up with the call-heavy options lean, though the lean is modest and off-exchange activity is ordinary.

Trump threatens to ban diesel exports to France and Germany unless they release 120 million barrels
This geopolitical story has no clear link to the BCS money signals, which show no unusual positioning in either direction.

Bank stock pullback may offer a buying opportunity
The price pullback is consistent with the calm money signals, with no large shift in off-exchange volume or new option bets to confirm a turn.

One group of funds is holding up the stock market; Barclays says oil prices must fall for a year-end rally
Barclays' view is cautious on oil, while BCS options lean modestly toward calls, a mild mismatch but not a strong divergence.

What is a “divergence”?
A divergence is when the news narrative and the institutional money flow point in opposite directions — a bearish headline while large call premium is bought, or heavy dark-pool selling under a bullish story. It signals the crowd and the desks may disagree.
How to read these numbers
Dark-pool volume — The share of trading executed off-exchange, at wholesalers and dark pools. About half of all US share volume prints there on an ordinary day, so the level by itself says almost nothing. What carries information is the distance from this name’s own recent norm, and whether the off-exchange size ran above its usual.
Off-exchange short share — How much of that off-exchange volume was sold short. The median across all listed names is about 49%, because wholesalers filling retail buy orders sell short and cover later. A reading near half is plumbing, not a bearish vote — compare it to the same name’s own 20-day norm.
Max pain — The price where the most options expire worthless — positioning often gravitates toward it near expiry.
Call wall / Put floor — Strikes with the heaviest call/put open interest — they often act as short-term resistance and support.
Put/Call ratio — Below ~0.7 leans bullish (more calls); above ~1 leans defensive (more puts).
