Dark pool share: Off-exchange volume ran 1.4× its norm — and only 32% vs a 40% norm of it was short
Off-exchange prints never touch the public book, so they move size without moving the quote. That is the point of using them. Volume rose while the short share stayed low, meaning most of that extra size was not sell-side. This is what quiet accumulation looks like on the tape.

What it means: Institutions are quietly accumulating MSTR shares off-exchange at 37% above normal volume, with short-selling pressure well below the stock's own average—a classic stealth-buy setup. However, options positioning shows balanced hedging (nearly equal puts and calls) with low squeeze pressure, suggesting measured conviction rather than aggressive bullish positioning.
News vs the money
Bitcoin miners including Strategy slip 3–6% despite Bitcoin holding steady near $79,500
Dark-pool accumulation and below-average short-selling suggest institutional buyers are stepping in on the dip, but the stock's balanced options posture and low squeeze pressure indicate this is a measured entry, not panic buying.

Strategy surges 12% as Bitcoin breaks above $80,000, lifting sentiment
Off-exchange volume remains elevated and short-selling remains suppressed, consistent with institutional accumulation, but no new large options positions were opened to amplify the move—suggesting the rally is driven by momentum, not fresh hedged bets.

Michael Saylor's 30% annual Bitcoin growth forecast for 20 years: does the math work for Strategy investors?
Institutional dark-pool buying and suppressed short-selling align with confidence in the long-term narrative, but balanced options hedging and no new large bets suggest the market is pricing in the upside cautiously, not betting the farm on Saylor's thesis.

Strategy spikes 10% as Bitcoin rebounds; MARA surges 9%
Dark-pool accumulation and low short-selling pressure are consistent with the rally, but the stock is trading $7 above max pain ($120) and $13 below the call wall ($140), suggesting the market is pricing in a pullback or consolidation rather than a breakout.

⚡ DIVERGENCEBitcoin has bottomed, but I bought the wrong treasury company—Strive now beats Strategy
Institutional accumulation in MSTR's dark pools contradicts the narrative that Strive is the better bet, but balanced options positioning and low squeeze pressure suggest the market is not yet convinced that MSTR's underperformance is a buying opportunity.

What is a “divergence”?
A divergence is when the news narrative and the institutional money flow point in opposite directions — a bearish headline while large call premium is bought, or heavy dark-pool selling under a bullish story. It signals the crowd and the desks may disagree.
How to read these numbers
Dark-pool volume — The share of trading executed off-exchange, at wholesalers and dark pools. About half of all US share volume prints there on an ordinary day, so the level by itself says almost nothing. What carries information is the distance from this name’s own recent norm, and whether the off-exchange size ran above its usual.
Off-exchange short share — How much of that off-exchange volume was sold short. The median across all listed names is about 49%, because wholesalers filling retail buy orders sell short and cover later. A reading near half is plumbing, not a bearish vote — compare it to the same name’s own 20-day norm.
Max pain — The price where the most options expire worthless — positioning often gravitates toward it near expiry.
Call wall / Put floor — Strikes with the heaviest call/put open interest — they often act as short-term resistance and support.
Put/Call ratio — Below ~0.7 leans bullish (more calls); above ~1 leans defensive (more puts).
