Dark pool share: Off-exchange volume was quiet at 0.6× its norm
Off-exchange prints never touch the public book, so they move size without moving the quote. That is the point of using them. Large players were quiet in this name that day. The share (35.8%) may look normal, but the absolute size behind it was thin.

What it means: VG shows a sharp call-heavy lean in standing positions and recent trading flow, but dark-pool activity reveals quiet distribution—off-exchange volume is running well below normal (0.56x), and what is moving is tilted slightly toward short sales, signaling insiders or large holders are trimming size without pushing the public price. The disconnect between bullish option positioning and stealthy selling pressure is the real story.
News vs the money
⚡ DIVERGENCEStrong LNG Demand Could Lift Venture Global Higher
News is constructive, but money is quietly exiting: call positioning is heavy and recent trades favored calls, yet dark-pool sellers are moving shares off-exchange at a pace well below normal, a classic sign of insider distribution ahead of or alongside positive headlines.

⚡ DIVERGENCEConocoPhillips Locks in 20-Year LNG Supply From Venture Global
The contract is a concrete win, yet options traders remain call-heavy while dark-pool insiders are selling quietly below normal volume—suggesting the market may already be pricing in this deal or that informed sellers see limited upside from here.

⚡ DIVERGENCELNG Shipments Through Hormuz Hit 7-Month Peak Amid Ongoing Energy Stress
The headline points to structural demand strength, yet call-heavy positioning coexists with below-normal dark-pool volume and a slight short bias in off-exchange trades—a mismatch that hints informed money is not convinced the tailwind will translate to stock gains.

⚡ DIVERGENCEVenture Global Seeks Federal Approval to Start Plaquemines LNG Operations
Regulatory progress is a catalyst, and call positioning is bullish, but dark-pool activity remains subdued and tilted toward distribution—insiders are not accumulating ahead of this milestone, suggesting they may view it as already reflected in the stock or see headwinds ahead.

⚡ DIVERGENCEConocoPhillips and Venture Global Finalize 20-Year LNG Supply Agreement
The deal is bullish news and call traders are positioned for upside, but dark-pool insiders are selling quietly at well-below-normal volume—a divergence that suggests the contract may already be priced in or that informed sellers see limited room to run from current levels.

What is a “divergence”?
A divergence is when the news narrative and the institutional money flow point in opposite directions — a bearish headline while large call premium is bought, or heavy dark-pool selling under a bullish story. It signals the crowd and the desks may disagree.
How to read these numbers
Dark-pool volume — The share of trading executed off-exchange, at wholesalers and dark pools. About half of all US share volume prints there on an ordinary day, so the level by itself says almost nothing. What carries information is the distance from this name’s own recent norm, and whether the off-exchange size ran above its usual.
Off-exchange short share — How much of that off-exchange volume was sold short. The median across all listed names is about 49%, because wholesalers filling retail buy orders sell short and cover later. A reading near half is plumbing, not a bearish vote — compare it to the same name’s own 20-day norm.
Max pain — The price where the most options expire worthless — positioning often gravitates toward it near expiry.
Call wall / Put floor — Strikes with the heaviest call/put open interest — they often act as short-term resistance and support.
Put/Call ratio — Below ~0.7 leans bullish (more calls); above ~1 leans defensive (more puts).
